Recently I bought Chant on iTunes, it's playing right now and it helps me comprehend the place of music or chanting in so much meditation/reflection of many creeds. As a background on low volume it provides me with focus.
Though I have not -- yet! -- been successful with meditation I can in fact find a meditative state with two sticks and a ball of string. In Simple Abundance Sarah Ban Breathnach points out something women have known for centuries, that creativity has been a part of the domestic daily round for centuries and that it is in that handwork a meditative state is induced.
