Down here right on sea level at these temperate latitudes we can't grow apples but, up on the escarpment about 20k away, we have a fruit orchard called Glenbernie which is currently harvesting apples and in summer produces stone fruit. One of the owners, Joanne, came into the shop the other day and presented me with this bag of freshly picked fruit. These apples are scrumptious!
For those of you in Sydney, Wollongong or the Southern highlands, Glenbernie has pick-your-own fruit days so you might like to check out the link above. The orchard is conveniently located at Darkes Forest on the old Princes Highway between Helensburgh and Wollongong.
